School Council News

Welcome to the School Council Page!

Warmington School Council is an inclusive, structured forum for discussion and decision making. It is a means for children to raise issues, ideas and concerns and a way to consult all pupils.

School Council meetings normally take place every three weeks and conventional committee procedures are used. Class representatives bring issues to the School Council and comments are made in a school suggestion box (where comments are managed by Mrs Dunkley) which are then carefully considered. Mrs Dunkley chairs the meetings and takes minutes.

The School Council is an excellent opportunity:

  • To help children develop responsible attitudes.
  • To give children "Hands on” experience of issues in the National Curriculum including PSHE, citizenship and enterprise.
  • To create a feeling of belonging, encourage listening to others and develop self-confidence.

There are two representatives elected from each class who will sit on the School Council until the end of the summer term. Children wishing to stand for election created their manifesto and the manifestos were displayed in the school for all children to view. A ballot was held when each class will vote for their class representatives.
